Looking back on my life, I think have been pretty clever (and lucky, and privileged) to have day jobs that put me in close proximity to visionary artists, thinkers, activists- humans. So when I heard Ira X Armstrong, one of the founders of PEACE Out Loud, say this in a meeting, I knew I wanted it on my wall. “Soil dies without roots; roots die without soil.” The interconnectedness of care. The trees breathe for us and we breathe for the trees. I could go on about it, and I’d probably never feel like I quite got the point across. But if you heard Ira talk about it for five minutes you’d probably understand it in your bones.
